My blogging experience

This was my second blogging experience, since I am writing a blog on my current year abroad.. I enjoy this English class blog because it is a different way to teach English. It is very useful in the way that it allows you to use the modern tools to improve a foreign language. I think this is a nice way to study because you have a certain independence in your work : you have two days to finish the work started in class, you can make comments on whoever blogs you want, you can work at home or in the English lab. Even if it was a good experience I think it can be improved. For instance the teacher blog could offer more English exercise for those who have the time and the will to work a lot at home. One can even imagine that all the homework could be done on the Internet. That way the one hours and a half class could be used to correct exercises previously done. In my point of view what was also missing was a free topic, where the student can wright about what he wants.
However it certainly does help me to progress in English. In fact this very modern exercise improve my vocabulary skills. I tried to use words that can not be used easily in an essay but who are very relevant in a blog. Writing very short essay every week is a good way to see what are my skills and what are my weaknesses, as well as it helps me to work in order to reduce my weaknesses.
In my opinion blogging in English class have a lots of interest, mainly in two areas. First it is clearly a good use of modern technology: I really think that nowadays teachers should not be afraid to use the Internet. This allows to make a link between the student's world and the subject taught. Moreover, this is really a good way to adapt the class to everyone level. Indeed, I imagine that it is difficult for a teacher to adapt the class level to everybody; with this blog tools everyone study and progress at his rhythm. The teacher is able to offer a very more individual help than that given in a classroom.

My ideal Job

My ideal jobI would have been a really good professional soccer player: Indeed, this job would have been perfect for me. Of course a lot of athletics skills are needed as well as footballistic ones. But you also need a lot of others qualities. You have to be mentally strong to support all the pressure and the context around games. You have to be intelligent to make the right career choice. I am sure I would be good because as I am a huge soccer fan, I would distinguish the good opportunities from the bad ones.
It is very difficult to find that kind of jobs. It is every 10 years old boys dream to be a professional soccer player but really few of them succeed in this career. In fact you have to left your parents at the age of fourteen or fifteen years old to go in a formation center for your soccer players. Then if you avoid important injury you will be able to become professional around the age of twenty years old. But to do so you need to convince the coach of your team that you are better than an old player.
Then after all this years and all this effort you will enter your dream, and win a ( a lot) of money for playing your favorite game.

Art Review : Great Mosque of Cordoba.

This piece of architecture is one of my favorite human achievement. I discover this building in a school trip to Andalusia. I had the luck to come back many times in Cordoba and every time I have been astonished by the church.
It was constructed by a lot of different artists from different cultures. That is what gives such a special beauty to this monument. Indeed, it has been alternatively a church and a mosque. It is one of the most representative examples of the art which has been developed during the Muslim occupation of a catholic land (Spain). The association of the architectural techniques and cultural habits proper to each culture unified by the same ultimate purpose (celebrate god) ensure this incredible temple.
The mix between the Arab columns and the Christian stained glasses are amazing.

Ken Robinson's talk

In his speech Ken Robinson is willing to show that the Academic system destroys student's creatrivity where it should improve it. All the educational systems throughtout the world have some common caracteristics. In all countries sciences and languages are more valued than humanities. Even in art teatching their are some discriminations : drawing and music are considered more useful than drama or danse.
Why is that to be changed ? Because creativity is one of the most valuable quality of human inteligence. It can be developed by taking into account the diversity of inteligence. It is obvious that a youg person with difficulties in mathematics or foreign languages is not facing an intelligence problem, he just needs to find his way.
That is not allowed by the actual education system. Indeed this one is designed to form academic writers and teatchers. But even for them, a better system would be the one who combines different subjects to respond to human brain which gains creativity by associating different matters.

The first thing I want to point out is that this presentation is so British. Indeed, while dealing with a very serious theme, K. Robinson use a lot of humor as well as personal examples. This makes this lecture very easy to follow.

I agree with Sir Robinson when he explains that creativity should be more expanded in school. I also agree that art classes should be more present.

But he goes too far in some points he is definding. Indeed he takes examples of people who have true and deep passion ( as the ballet dancer) but don't deal with those who don't identify their passion so young. It is undoutable that for a personn with no specific talent, math and foreign languages would offer a lot of job opportunitites as well as it will help him to let everything open in case he has a sudden passion for a specific area.
So, from my point of view the more important in school system is orientation. You want to be sure that everyone is following the right career. As long as you don´'t know what to do you should follow the general carreer; but at anytime you should be able to join the specific carrer you want.

A difficult choice

It is very difficult to choose the best in my field. Indeed public administration goes with a lots of other subject. One can find that a great state man is the best public administrator. In that case I would have to say that C. de Gaulle was the best one. He succeed to save and rebuild French administration after WW2 and later build a complete new administration by creating the fifth Republic.

But other think that political philosophy is the core of public administration in the way that it inspires its organization. In this sense I should support Montesquieu as the best in my area. Without a doubt his book The Spirit of Law is one of the most important. His concept of check and balances influences all the modern democratic Administrations.

Finally, one can claim that the best in this field are those who directly work at it : Public Administrators. Here in France, I would have to choose Maurice Laure. He is not famous but assumed his charges with a great honour and has contributed to improve administration. He is the inventor of the Value added tax which allows a better efficiency and fairness for the taxpayer. This concept was expanded to a lot of other countries.

My carrer

I study a career a little special. It lasts five years but I really have to choose my career in the fourth year. The two first one are general. I studied history, law, economics and foreign languages. After that two general years everybody must go on a year abroad. This is what I'm doing now.
I am to choose in few weeks what career I want to follow for my two final college years. I have a large choice as journalism, international affairs or business. But I think I will go for Public Administration. Indeed I am interested in a lot of the subjects taught in this career. Furthermore what attracts me more to this way is to work in public administration. I really think those are fine jobs with great responsibilities. I would be very proud to work for the common well. One could find this last sentence a little emphatic but that's really what Public administrator do. They try to make the state work. Their job is to make possible the common life of millions of administrated. They have to work dealing with greats valors as fairness. In fact, I really look forward to study public law . The only sad thing is that I have to leave my favorite subject : History. But I am sure I would find time to pursue this study all by myself.

A night out

This photo was taken by a friend on a rail trip on Europe. We had bought train tickets which allowed us to travel as much as we wanted in Europe. We were five male friends and we had a lot of fun. We went through all the north of Europe : Germany, Czech Republic, Austria, Slovakia and Sweden...
The photo takes place in Göteborg in the south of Sweden. We were sleeping in hostals that we were booking from one day to another. But because of a delayed train we arrived very late at Goteborg and we had not booked a room yet. When we arrived, we learned that a youth international football tournament was taking place in the city. Most of the hotel and hostal were occupied by the young players. Moreover one of my friend had his hand badly injured and it started to be infected. The number one priority was to go to the hospital which was an hour from Göteborg. When we finally got back in the city everything was closed and we spend the night in the street.
I really enjoyed this photo because it expresses well friendship. We are at bus stop trying to get warmer by getting all together. It also a great souvenir, as often holidays bad situations became greats memories which strength friendship.
